Reflecting on Labor Day

Hope you were able to enjoy your Labor Day weekend! Now back to reality and back to work. For some, Labor Day is just a mark that summer has ended, but it is a holiday that shows thanks to the hard workers of our country. That is what AllianceStaff is all about. If it weren’t for workers, we wouldn’t be who we are today.

Labor Day is a reflection. A reflection on how far we have come. A reflection on our career and dreams. A reflection on maybe a change needs to be made in our own work ethic or physical job. Working is a huge part of life. The ole saying “love what you do and you won’t work a day in your life” may ring a bell for some. While others, the bell rings and they are sprinting to their car to get home. And then there’s the last group who goes to their jobs and feels they put in a good days work and will just continue that pattern day in and day out. Being in the recruiting industry, we always want everyone to be in the first group, however, that is not the case.

So how can one begin to reflect and take pride in their work again?

  • Change your mindset
    • Maybe not enjoying your job can start with what you do outside of work. Get a good night’s rest. Complete a quick workout. Spend time on weekends relaxing or surrounding yourself with loved ones. Wake up with gratitude and feeling thankful you have a job to go to.
  • Get more involved at work
    • Sit down with your boss and see if there is a different task you can take on. Connect with new coworkers. Go to lunch with a coworker you enjoy. Attend a networking event put together after work.
  • Find a better fit
    • At the end of the day, maybe a new job is the move for you to enjoy work again. New surroundings, new tasks, new motivation. Get yourself on LinkedIn and see what others jobs and companies have to offer. A different manager could see full potential in you. And if you have no clue where to even begin, we are here to help you in your search.
